Families who love airplanes and aviation history need to see this place. It is one of the best aviation museums in Tennessee, with a real collection of vintage planes, jets, and helicopters that kids can actually walk inside.
The museum is on a working airfield in Sevierville, about 45 minutes from Maryville. There are planes from every era of aviation history lined up on the tarmac. My kids spent forever looking through the cockpits of fighter jets and learning how they worked.
Pro tip: Go when there is flying happening if you can. They do fly days where you can see vintage aircraft in action and sometimes meet the pilots. It makes the whole experience come alive.
The staff are passionate and knowledgeable. They will happily answer questions and help kids find the planes they are most interested in. Perfect for future aviators, history buffs, or just kids who love big shiny things that fly.
