As a homeschool mom, I'm always looking for ways to connect kids with nature in structured, fun ways. Tinkergarten at Wonder Wild Outdoor School does exactly that. and more.
Their outdoor learning program brings together kids ages 18 months through 8 years and their caregivers (they call them "guides") for weekly sessions filled with singing, dancing, creating, and exploring. The best part? These happen in Maryville area outdoor locations, so the kids get fresh air and real-world experiences instead of screen time.
The Spring '26 season runs April 7 - June 2 on Tuesdays or April 8 - June 3 on Wednesdays, with a creativity-focused curriculum that I'm excited to try. At $170/season, it's actually pretty reasonable for what you get. and if you have more than one kid signing up, ask about the sibling discount.
What I love most: you can join for a free trial class before committing (they're offering March 31 or April 1 trials for Spring '26). Plus, if scholarships are needed, they actually offer full and partial ones. just email to inquire. That kind of accessibility matters to me.
For the Tuesdays option, there's even an optional extended play and lunch component from 11am-12pm, plus an optional Talisman horsemanship add-on from 12-1pm if you want to layer in some riding experience (though that does cost extra).
This is the kind of program I wish I'd known about sooner. practical, affordable, and genuinely focused on getting kids outside and connected to the natural world around us.
