Free Fall Festival & Outdoor Craft Fair at the Blount County Library on October 17
Every October the Blount County Public Library turns the lot behind the Learning Lab into a tiny fall festival, and this year it lands on Saturday, October 17 from 10 AM to noon. It is free, it is all ages, and it is small enough that you are not fighting a crowd.
The centerpiece is an outdoor craft fair, with local vendors set up in the lot behind the library. Past years have had face painting and balloon twisting, and the kids crafts table is where my youngest always ends up parked. There is usually a costume parade too, which is a great warm-up for the littles a couple weeks before real Halloween.

A couple of honest notes. Parking in that lot fills up fast, so park across the street on Cusick and walk. And because it is an outdoor event in East Tennessee in mid-October, have a backup plan if rain moves in.
It is a nice, low-stress Saturday morning before Halloween chaos really kicks off. The Spooktacular hits West Broadway on October 30, and this library festival is the gentler warm-up for the little ones.
